Plant Manager - Esperance | Minerva Foods

The Company:
What an excellent time to join Minerva Foods, a South American red meat giant who are so early into their Australian growth phase. In 2021, they made their first two Australian processing plant investments, securing the Esperance and Great Eastern abattoirs in Western Australia. More recently they have reached an agreement to purchase Australian Lamb Co (ALC), an Australian processor in Victoria with 800+ staff.
 
The Role:
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer of Western Australia, you will be a key member of the senior management team and your main responsibility will be to manage the daily operating activities of the Esperance facility to ensure that the needs of team members, suppliers and customers are met whilst achieving optimum yields and cost effectiveness.
 
You must lead by example ensuring professionalism, integrity and superior customer relations are provided to all stakeholders. Additional responsibilities will include

  • Manage direction and planning for the plant with a focus on optimisation of daily functions
  • Achieve KPI's for health and safety, yield, quality, utilization and maintenance
  • Implement manufacturing policies including operating plans and budgets
  • Maximise plant safety through proactive strategies and well-structured training
  • Provide direction and leadership to all levels of employees and managers.
  • Be an agent for change within the business to allow for further growth 

The Requirements:
We are looking for a manager that has worked in meat processing prior and can really own this role and support the growth. It is essential that you have the knowledge to not only manage the plant and production activities onsite, but to also help support and mentor a great team. The following requirements will also be needed.

  • Senior management experience within a meat processing facility
  • 3 - 5+ years’ experience in leadership positions
  • Financial management and business knowledge
  • Strong problem-solving skills focusing on solutions
  • Proven experience managing operation costs and the P&L. 

The Location:
This role will be based in Esperance, a special pocket of Western Australia suited to people who are looking for a coastal, outdoor lifestyle. Being the key town in the region with a population of 15,000+ there are excellent schooling and medical facilities, plenty of boating and fishing as well as excellent beaches, striking turquoise waters and wild landscapes.
