Are you using a SEEK profile as part of your job search?

Here are 5 tips to increase your chances of being found!

· Articles

As a search consultant myself, the SEEK database is not only a great tool for searching the resumes of candidates who are actively seeking work, but to also find candidates that have the right experience for a vacancy but may not be actively looking.

Having a completed and updated profile makes it is easier for a recruiter to contact you, as the search uses algorithms to draw keywords from both a candidate’s SEEK profile and resume. Here are 5 tips to increase your chances of being found.

1. Keep it updated - Even if you’re 100% satisfied with your profile, be sure to update small details regularly to ensure it’s always up-to-date. Make sure to update your profile when you have relocated, gained a new qualification, changed industries or found new work as well.

2. Ensure your spelling is correct - As we search for job titles and keywords, if you’ve spelt ‘manager’ or ‘coordinator’ wrong it is a lot harder to be found.

3. Maximize your information - As we skim SEEK profiles and resumes when searching for candidates, ensure you have as much information as possible and are using the correct keywords to describe your experience. Include names of software that you have used like MYOB or SAP.

4. Use the mobile app - SEEK’s latest update allows Android and iOS users to manage their jobseeker profile (SEEK Profile) via their mobile, as well as upload and edit a CV or personalised cover letter.

5. Allow access - As a SEEK profile isn’t as comprehensive as your resume, allowing recruiters to see your full resume is important so we know that we are contacting you with a vacancy that really does suit your background. Remember to include important details such as your phone number and a professional-sounding email address.

In summary, make sure that you are proactive in your job search and ensure that you are marketing yourself in the best possible way as you never know who may call tomorrow!!!

Good luck!
